Making an impact

The program will vary depending on the organization, but holistically relies on three fundamental elements:

Health & Well-Being

Through our integrated sports and creativity-based activities, youth participants are first and foremost offered a safe space to play and develop. They are also supported and guided on physical, emotional, and mental health in their lives. This is all delivered within a ‘team’ setting where the foundations of supportive family and community are reinforced.

I am is a critical theory in the personal development of marginalized young people. Through focused activities, young people will explore formative issues including identity, values, goals, skills, rights, and how to become the author of their life-journey. This is the anchor of the framework, and is a resource for the youth to draw on into adulthood and throughout their lives.

Taken from the Nguni word ‘Ubuntu’ which is an African ideology based on humanity, believing in “a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity.” I am because we are is a journey with the youth relating goals and values to a wider team, community, society where teamwork, unity and the rights of others are core.

Skills 4 Life

One of the key aims of The sports Creative is to support youth not just in their current context but to build a viable roadmap to reach their goals based on their values and skills. Skills 4 Life focuses on what tangible skills will contribute to the personal development plan of each youth as they seek to reach these goals.
