Every year Manchester City hosts a Young Leader Summit through their Cityzens Giving program to celebrate and recognize young heroes who are changing lives in their communities through football. This year The Sports Creative was honored to be invited by Manchester City and love.fútbol to represent Philadelphia. Our team in Manchester was Head Coach Viulka Arias-Guzmán and Program Manager Lisbeth Custodio.
From the 20th – the 24th of June, the team joined +40 young leaders from 25 countries in the City Football Academy, home to Manchester City FC. Community coaches from Cityzens Giving led sessions based on skills development and shared learning to take back home to our programs. Themes included mental health, objective setting, and sustainability.
It’s encouraging to know all the little efforts happening around the world through the amazing things these young leaders are doing in their programs
The week was full of activities, including touring Manchester in the first team’s bus, a tour of the Etihad Museum inclusive of seeing the Premier League trophy, and of course, football, with a match day for young leaders.
All this alongside interactive training on the field, classroom lessons, and panels and workshops with Man City’s experienced collaborators.
About the opportunity
The Sports Creative is delighted to deliver free football activities for kids in Philadelphia through our partnership with love.fútbol, and Manchester City.
FC Max Myers is a community soccer club for youth in Oxford Circle, Philadelphia. With free soccer sessions, the program welcomes up to 100 participants per session. TSC is so grateful for our partnership with love.futbol, and their commitment to making every football space more than a place to play. As representatives of the Cityzens Giving program in the US, they have made FC Max Myers a reality!
